Box Office - Love Aaj Kal fails, Malang hangs on, Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior keeps roaring

Love Aaj Kal has failed at the box office with only Rs. 36 crores* accumulated in the first week. The film stared well with Rs. 12.40 crores coming on its first day but then post that there were hardly any takers out there. While critics weren’t really kind to the film, audiences too chose to look the other way. As a result, the numbers just didn’t come and now the film would at maximum go through the second week but that’s about it. Theatrically, this one is a huge disappointment.

Malang managed to bring in some numbers in the second week as Rs. 13 crores* more came in. Though ideally the collections should have stayed over the Rs. 15 crores mark as that would have allowed a lifetime of around Rs. 60 crores. That wouldn’t quite turn out to be the case now as the collections so far stand at Rs. 53.50 crores*. The Mohit Suri directed film now should be aiming to close in Rs. 58-59 crores zone and that too would be a fair enough conclusion of the theatrical run.

As for Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior, it would see a touch and go with the Rs. 280 crores milestone. The film collected around Rs. 5 crores* more in the sixth week and that’s impressive all over again. The numbers have now reached Rs. 274.50 crores* and with still some screens and shows been allocated to the film, a lifetime of around Rs. 279-280 crores is on the cards. Blockbuster.
